Plett Mungo Mill Is Making Masks

Going the extra mile to support the local community

While no-one can predict the long-term impact of Covid-19, one thing is certain: this pandemic continues to affect countless small and medium businesses around the country.

But even during these trying times, there are many small and medium businesses that are going the extra mile to ensure that all South Africans have all the essentials they need to survive. One of these businesses is the Mungo Mill in Plettenberg Bay.

Mungo is a homegrown textile company, well known for its heirloom-quality woven goods, such as linens and throws.

When the lockdown was initially announced, they applied for their essential service permit to manufacture masks & scrubs. They have since been manufacturing masks and providing scrubs to healthcare workers who need them.

They also decided to give their employees the tools to make medical masks from home. And they are supplying materials so other manufacturers can also produce the much-needed masks.

The masks are sold online and for every mask sold, a mask is donated to someone in need, focusing on the local Plett community and surrounding areas.
