See an abundance of birdlife in an unspoilt and tranquil environment
Wittedrift is an area of outstanding natural beauty and is home to 180 species of birdlife, including the blue crane, fish eagle, jackal buzzard, Denham’s bustard, Cape batis, Knysna turaco, and brown-hooded, pied, giant and malachite kingfishers.
The quiet village lies at the centre of one of South Africa’s best ecotourism regions and is just a few kilometres from the famous beaches and tourist attractions of Plettenberg Bay in the Western Cape.
This year’s festival is packed with talks, demonstrations, talks and guided birding destinations and for the first time in Wittedrift, visitors can participate in an important bird count on 10 October; all sightings will be recorded and registered with the Southern African Bird Atlas Project.
The Wittedrift Birding Festival offers an exciting opportunity for birdwatchers to see an abundance of birdlife in an unspoilt and tranquil environment. Bring the family and let them enjoy outdoor activities such as walking, kayaking, paddle-boarding, horse-riding, cycling, game drives and plenty more.
